Our Expectations

Meningie Area School

Parents/families play a vital role in education and can enhance success by:

  • Promoting a positive culture of school and education in the home
  • Developing the organisational and social expectations for school
  • Setting up learning spaces at home
  • Reading – listen to emerging readers and monitor independent readers Encourage secondary students to read daily for pleasure
  • Engaging with the school cooperatively and respectfully
  • Ensuring students attend school and communicating absences
  • Responding to all communications and raising any concerns in a timely manner

In addition we have 3 school events we expect parents/families to engage in:

  • Parent/family-Teacher interviews (held late Term 1, early Term 2)

    Students and families attend an interview to discuss what they are learning, their strengths and areas for improvement and strategies to achieve this.

  • Enterprise Expo (held Wednesday week 4, Term 3)

    Showcases student entrepreneurial and agricultural learning from R -12. There are presentations, market stalls, displays and an opportunity to see the facilities in action.

  • Achieving our Way end of year celebration (held Tuesday week 8, Term 4)

    This R-12 celebrations highlights student successes over the year.

Parents/families are welcome to other events across the year – Sports Day, Swim Carnival, Assemblies, Book Week are some examples.

Signing in Procedures

  • All visitors are required to sign in at the Front Office before entering the school grounds.
  • A visitor’s book is situated at the front desk and visitor badges are to be worn at all times.
  • This includes parents supporting their child in the classroom and when dropping off lunches.
